A little bit about me…

Growing up in Wales’ most westerly point, Pembrokeshire, I was extremely lucky to have experienced a number of wonderful musical opportunities from a young age. I began my musical studies at the age of seven learning the piano, also taking up the violin and trumpet in the following years. I was a boy chorister at St. David’s Cathedral from 2007 and continued singing there – later occupying the position of Junior Tenor Choral Scholar – until 2017. An exciting time arrived when I took up the organ in 2014 whilst continuing my studies at St. David’s until completing my GCSE’s in the following years. My final year in Pembrokeshire also brought much success winning first position in the piano category at the Pembrokeshire schools’ music festival.

In September 2017 I was most fortunate to have been given the opportunity to move to Ellesmere College in Shropshire to study for my A levels and whilst also being the organ scholar there. This was followed by a year as Music Intern at the school as well as holding the position of organ scholar at Shrewsbury Abbey during the 2019-20 academic year. In September 2020 I commenced on a marvellous year abroad when moved to Italy to take up the position of Director of Music at St Mark’s English Church, Florence. Following this, in September 2021 I arrived at the University of York to study music and specialised in voice and conducting.

Over time I have worked hard to build up a formidable reputation as a Musical Director, Teacher and Accompanist and collaborate with a wide variety of musicians across a number of genres in Yorkshire and beyond. Notably, I have worked as the Musical Director for international drag queen Velma Celli, as well as holding positions with local production companies including NE Theatre York and the Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company. Since 2023 I have been teaching at CAPA College, Wakefield as well as regularly finding myself teaching. I am also frequently found working as a consultant vocal coach and musical director for various choirs and production companies.

In addition to all of this exciting work, I am delighted to be frequently be asked to perform as a tenor soloist – singing everything from large choral works to musical theatre – and to give organ and piano recitals. Further to this, I am also a composer and arranger and you can find my work being performed across the world in theatres, cabaret clubs and cruise ships! Having a portfolio career is truly a joy and brings much excitement and diversity to my work. I conduct and play regularly for shows, services and concerts, touring Italy and the UK performing in notable venues including The Pantheon, Rome, St. George’s Chapel, Windsor, the York Theatre Royal and the Crazy Coqs Cabaret Club in the heart of London’s west end.

I now find myself happily settled in Yorkshire, enjoying the many exciting projects that come my way. Outside of work – when I get the occasional day off! – I enjoy cooking. I would consider myself to be quite the chef, especially after a glass of wine… or perhaps a couple more! I’m also a keen walker and can spend hours strolling along the beautiful canals, moors and mountain ranges on offer around me, often providing that much needed opportunity to reflect on life. Above all, my most favourite pastime is to entertain guests. Nothing beats a fabulous evening of camp humour, good food and good wine… oh, I suppose the most excellent company of my friends and family also helps!

Do enjoy this gallery selection of extremely mediocre photographs of me in the wild. I’d like to say I’m not one for being in front of the camera, but on reflection, I am known to occasionally find myself in the spotlight!
